These “half and half” pictures were taken on our annual trip to Florida last October. Returning from a day excursion to see my sister on the Alabama Gulf coast, I passed this cotton field with cottony clouds overhead.
Back on the Florida beach the next day, we found that the coastal dune lake, Alligator Lake, had breached the dune and was emptying into the Gulf. Its brackish water provided a real contrast with the clear Gulf water.
That evening, our last vacation sunset provided a beautiful contrast between sky and sea.

I adore the sunset photo, just stunning!

Thanks! Every sunset is different, so we try to catch every one while on vacation. My vista at home is a little more cluttered, but still get some good sunsets in Iowa, too.

Chuck, that last one IS quite beautiful, but the second is as well.

Thank you, Tina. Having been in Iowa for 21 years, I’m glad our annual fall vacation to Florida has us passing through cotton fields ready for harvest. It’s a beautiful sight and a nice change from corn and bean fields.

You’re making me homesick (I’m from the Alabama Coast but live in Florida now).

We always travel through Alabama on the way to Florida, Cynthia. Every region has its own beauty but I love traveling the Alabama roadways on which the late afternoon sun filters through the pine trees.
